Alecia Viles

Alecia started with Dance Unlimited as a young Jazz student over 20 years ago, and her love of dance has shaped who she is today! During her training at Dance Unlimited she completed the AJDA Exam syllabus, receiving the top marks in NZ for solo seal, and also completed the NZAMD Contemporary exams. Alecia mentored young competition and exam students at Dance Unlimited while she continued her university studies.   

 Alecia is a local Primary School Teacher, she graduated with Bachelor of Arts from Massey University and received the Massey Student City, Outstanding Ongoing Contribution to the Arts award. Alecia then trained in dance full time at Whitirea in Wellington. Here she learnt a range of dance styles including ballet, commercial jazz and circus training. She graduated with a Whitirea Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance).

 Alecia has choreographed and performed in various musical productions, workshops and events: including the Wellington Fringe Festival, and recently the TDC production Choreographer and Ensemble dancer in ‘Mamma Mia’. Alecia has choreographed a number of children’s musicals including; The Lion King, Olivia, Mary Poppins, High School Musical, and The Little Mermaid at Hunterville and Huntley School. “I love seeing my students grow their passion for performing arts, through dance.”
